God's Word

An open book and a cup on a wooden surface by the water during sunset.

Psalm 78:2-7

"I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from old...,

things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done.

He decreed statutes for His people and established the Law in Israel, which He commanded our ancestors to teach their children,

so, the next generation would know them, even the children yet born; and they in turn would tell their children.

Then our children would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds, but would keep His commandments."

God's Guidance

In today’s Scripture, the author has written a salvation-history psalm, warning God's people not to repeat their sins of the past; but to remember God's saving acts and marvelous grace that He has extended them..., as well as those before them.  Amen.  God wants His people to remember what He has done for them, so that our desire will be to keep faith in Him, and His Covenant with His people.  Trust and faith in God is necessary on the part of God's people to keep His Covenant!  That is what God requires from each of us!  Trust and faith in Him!  And in our particular passage; God's expectation for His people is to tell their children, and the next generation, about Almighty God our Father; and what He has done for each of us, and even of those before us!  Included in God's expectation of His people, is that each one of us teach our children, and the next generation about the Word of God!  Hallelujah!  God has expectations for His people to teach their children about the goodness of God; because when we do that, particularly to the children..., they will grow up already knowing about how good God is!  Glory!  And that will lead them to trust God for their own lives!  Glory to God!  Amen!  Our Scripture begins with God's expectations for parents, as spoken by His people...,” I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from old..., things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.  We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done."  God is not new to His people!  What God has done is not new to His people!  God expects His people to open their mouths and testify to the goodness of God; to your children and the new generation!  Someone taught you about God; now teach the children about God!  Amen!  Our Word says that God did this for His people..., "He decreed statutes for His people and established the Law in Israel, which He commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet born; and they in turn would tell their children."  The Word of God, and what He has done for you and your family before you..., must be taught!  These things must be taught to your children and the next generation by you!  Someone taught you about God; now teach the children about God!  Hallelujah!  And finally the Word of God tells God's people why it is important that as parents, they must teach their children about the goodness of God in their lives..., "Then our children would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds, but would keep His commandments."  Glory Hallelujah!  Children trust their parents!  It is the role of a parent to teach their children; because children learn from their parents!  Proverbs 22:6 tells God's people..., "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."  Amen!  What you teach your children, will stay with your children!  That is why God commands parents to teach their children and the next generation about the goodness of God!  So that they will know that God is good; and trust in God!  Glory to God!  Amen again!  Our Scripture is challenging God's people today who are parents.  God has always expected parents to teach their children about God; and therefore, to also teach them about Jesus!  Amen!  If you are a parent; God expects you to testify to your children about all the things that God has done for you; including saving you through the name of Jesus!  It is your responsibility!  It is your job!  Tell the truth!  God is challenging His people!  Tell your children and the next generation about the goodness of God!  Tell them what God, and Jesus, have done for you!  Testify to your children!  God has expectations for His people to teach their children about the goodness of God; because when we do that, particularly to the children..., they will grow up already knowing about how good God is!  Glory!  And that will lead them to trust God for their own lives!  Glory to God!  Amen.

Today..., our Scripture Guidance is for Believers; and particularly parents.   God has always expected parents to teach their children about God; and therefore, to also teach them about Jesus!  Amen!  If you are a parent; God expects you to testify to your children about all the things that God has done for you; including saving you through the name of Jesus!  It is your responsibility!  Too many Believers who are parents; do not testify to their children that God has been good to them, to their own parents; and to their grandparents!  Too many Believers today want someone else to tell their children about God!  They think it is the Pastor's job, or the Sunday school teacher, or Grandma..., or anyone else but themselves!  Well, that is Satan speaking to you; and Satan is a liar!  It is your job!  Tell the truth!  God is challenging His people!  Tell your children and the next generation about the goodness of God!  Tell them what God, and Jesus, has done for you!  Testify to your children!  God has expectations for His people to teach their children about the goodness of God; because when we do that, particularly to the children..., they will grow up already knowing about how good God is!  Glory!  And that will lead them to trust God for their own lives!  Glory to God!  Amen.
